Subassembly Shortcuts

Component Assemblies

Before beginning the build guide for each assembly, please make sure that you have completed the subassemblies necessary for that build. Below is a table of contents for subassemblies, categorized by the assembly for which they are needed.

4in EasySwerve

Follow this link to the EasySwerve Module Assembly Instructions, assembly four Bottom Motor Orientation modules.

Single RT25 Plastic Pulley Kit - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

  1. Get:

  • 2 - RT25 Pulley, 24t, MAX Bore, Plastic, Flange Slice

Align the notch of the pulley slices with their other half and fit them together.

Note: The pulley slices will only slot together in one orientation. If they do not fit, try rotating one of the halves slightly.

  1. Get:

  • 6 - M3 Thread Forming Screw - 12mm Long From Kit

Secure the two pulley halves together with 6 screws.

  1. Repeat to assemble a total of 16 24T single pulleys.

Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth with MAX Hubs

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXHub - 1/2in Hex - Aluminum

  • 2 - Socket Head Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

Slot one MAXHub into each side of the MAXSpline bore of the pulley. Then, secure with two screws.

Repeat to assemble a total of three 24T single pulleys with MAXHub inserts.

Double RT25 Plastic Pulley Kit - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

  1. Get:

  • 2 - RT25 Pulley, 24t, MAX Bore, Plastic, Flange Slice

  • RT25 Pulley, 24t, MAX Bore, Plastic, Middle Slice

Align the notches on each pulley slice with eachother and fit them together. The two flanged slices will be on the outside.

Note: The pulley slices will only slot together in one orientation. If they do not fit, try rotating the halves slightly one at a time.

  1. Get:

  • 6 - M3 Thread Forming Screw - 12mm Long From Kit

Secure the pulley slices together with 6 screws.

Conveyor Shaft

Complete this assembly after the above Single RT25 Plastic Pulley Kit - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth assemblies.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXSpline Shaft - Cut to 10.6875in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Shaft Collar - 2-Piece - Aluminum

Secure a MAXSpline Shaft Collar on the left edge of the MAXSpline Shaft.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/8in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/2in

Slide the following on from right to left: 24T single pulley, 1/8in MAXSpline Spacer, 1/4in MAXSpline Spacer, 1/2in MAXSpline Spacer.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/2in

Slide the following on from right to left: 24T single pulley, 1/4in MAXSpline Spacer, 1/2in MAXSpline Spacer.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/2in

Slide the following on from right to left: 24T single pulley, 1/4in MAXSpline Spacer, 1/2in MAXSpline Spacer.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/2in

Slide the following on from right to left: 24T single pulley, 1/4in MAXSpline Spacer, 1/2in MAXSpline Spacer.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/2in

Slide the following on from right to left: 24T single pulley, 1/4in MAXSpline Spacer, 1/2in MAXSpline Spacer.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

Slide a 24T single pulley on to the MAXSpline shaft from right to left, then set it aside.

Conveyor Motor

  1. Get:

  • 1 - NEO Vortex Brusless Motor

  • 1 - SPARK Flex Motor Controller

  • 1 - 3:1 MAXPlanetary (3:1)

  • 1 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft, Cut to 2.5in, Tapped

Assemble a 3:1 MAXPlanetary Gearbox with a retained 1/2in Hex Shaft using the MAXPlanetary Gearbox Assembly instructions.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 2x1 - MAX Pattern - 1-Pos (3in)

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

Insert the MAXTube Endcap into one end of the MAXTube. Ensure that the holes of the endcap are aligned with the holes of your MAXTube.

  1. Get:

  • 3 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

Secure the MAXTube Endcap to the MAXTube with two evenly spaced screws on the left, 2in side of the assembly. Then, add one more screw in the top hole of the right side.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

  • 1 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/2in

  • 1 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

  • 2 - 1in Joining Bracket

Align the 1in Joining Brackets with the 1in face of the MAXTube such that the excess bracket hangs over the side with one screw installed into the MAXTube Endcap. Then, secure the bracket with shorter screws into the MAXTube Endcap, and one longer screw with a nylon lock nut at the opposite end.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Flanged Bearing for 1/2in Rounded Hex

Insert one bearing into the MAXSpline Bore of the MAXTube on the side without bracket overhang.

  1. Get:

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

  • MAXPlanetary Gearbox from Step 1

Attach the MAXPlanetary Gearbox assembly to the 1in Joining Brackets with 4 screws. Ensure that the 1/2 Hex Shaft output is properly aligned with the bearing.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth with MAX Hubs

  • 1 - 1/2in Hex Shaft Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 0.5in

Slide the 24T single pulley onto the MAXPlanetary Gearbox's output, followed by one 1/4in spacer. Secure with a shaft end screw.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Polycarbonate Sheet - 3mm - 1/2in Grid Pattern

    • 26.5in x 10.5in

Cut the polycarbonate sheet to size if it has not already.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXTube - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall Cut to 19in

  • 8 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/2in

  • 8 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach the polycarb panel to the 1in face of two pieces of MAXTube. The panel will be centered, and about 8 holes in from the end on each side. Please Note: If you are building a MAXSwerve Drivetrain there is a small variation to this step. Please see MAXSwerve Compatibility for details.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXTube - 1/2 x 1/2 Cut to 25in

  • 8 - 3/8in Nut Strip - 3pos

Insert 4 nut strips into each section of 1/2 x 1/2 MAXTube. Place them at the following locations:

  • Counting from the left

    • Aligned with the 12th & 14th holes

    • Aligned with the 1st and 3rd holes

  • Counting from the right

    • Aligned with the 12th & 14th holes

    • Aligned with the 1st and 3rd holes

Do this twice

  1. Get:

  • 16 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

Attach the 1/2 x 1/2 MAXTube to the polycarbonate panel with screws into the nut strips.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXTube - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall Cut to 19in

  • 4 - MAXTube Internal Support - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

Slide one MAXTube Internal Spacer into each end of the 2x1 section of MAXTube. The internal support should be aligned with the 7th hole from each side.

Do this twice. Please Note: If you are building a MAXSwerve Drivetrain there is a small variation to this step. Please see MAXSwerve Compatibility for details.

  1. Get:

  • 4 - EasySwerve Module

  • 8 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/4in

  • 8 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach a pre-assembled EasySwerve Module to the both ends of the MAXTube from the previous step using screws and nuts. Do this twice

  1. Get:

  • 8 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/4in

  • 8 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach the Polycarbonate panel and 1/2 x 1/2 frame to the drivetrain using 4 screws and nuts on each side.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 2x1 - MAX Pattern Cut to 25in

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

Insert the MAXTube Endcap into one end of the 25in section of MAXTube.

  1. Get:

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

Secure the MAXTube Endcap with 4 screws as shown.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

Repeat the above steps for the opposite end of the MAXTube. Both ends should have an endcap installed by the end of this step.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXHub - 1/2in Hex - Aluminum

Insert a MAXHub into the first MAXSpline bore from the left and another into the third MAXSpline bore from the right.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXHub - Structural

Insert 2 structrual MAXHubs on the opposite side of the 1/2in Hex MAXHubs. When this step is done, the right face will have two 1/2in Hex MAXHubs showing and the left face will have Structural MAXHubs.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1in Bracket - 180deg

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Secure a 180deg bracket next to the MAXHub as shown. The bracket should overlap with the structural MAXHub, and the screws will be inserted so that the nuts are on the same side as the bracket.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 11in and Tapped with 10-32 threads

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

Use screws to attach Hex Shafts to the MAXPattern as shown.

Counting from the end with out a bracket, the shafts will be placed between the 4th and 5th the 6th and 7th MAXSpline bores. Set this assembly aside.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Conveyor Shaft Assembly

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/8in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/4in

Add the two spacers to one Conveyor Shaft Assembly

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Double RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

Add a 24T Double Pulley to the MAXSpline shaft.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXSpline Shaft Collar - 2-Piece - Aluminum

Secure the pulleys and spacers along the MAXSpline shaft with a MAXSpline Shaft Collar.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Bearing - Flanged - 1in OD

Insert one bearing into each end of the MAXSpline Shaft.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 12.75in

Slide the Hex Shaft through the bearings and the MAXSpline Shaft. Set this assembly aside.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Conveyor Shaft Assembly

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/8in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/2in

Add the three spacers to one Conveyor Shaft Assembly

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth

Add a 24T Single Pulley to the MAXSpline shaft.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXSpline Shaft Collar - 2-Piece - Aluminum

Secure the pulleys and spacers along the MAXSpline shaft with a MAXSpline Shaft Collar.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Bearing - Flanged - 1in OD

Insert one bearing into each end of the MAXSpline Shaft.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 12.75in

Slide the Hex Shaft through the bearings and the MAXSpline Shaft.

  1. Get:

  • 6 - RT25 Belt - 1/2in Width - 168 Tooth

  • Finished assemblies from Steps 12 and 17

Place belts onto the single pulleys, leaving the right-most pulley of the top shaft (double) and the bottom shaft (single) open.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - RT25 Belt - 1/2in Width - 56 Tooth

  • 1 - RT25 Belt - 1/2in Width - 168 Tooth

First, place the 56 tooth belt around the double pulley. Then place the last 168 tooth belt between the other half of the double pulley and the single pulley from the bottom shaft. Note: The 56 tooth belt will hang free until the final assembly steps before it is attached to its other pulley.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

Slot the 1/2 in hex shafts that support the conveyor shafts into the MAXHubs on the assembly from step 7. Secure them through the structural MAXHub using screws. Set this aside

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 2x1 - MAX Pattern Cut to 25in

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

  • 4 - 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

Insert the MAXTube Endcap into one end of the 25in section of MAXTube. Secure the MAXTube Endcap with 4 screws as shown.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

Insert the MAXTube Endcap into the opposite end of the 25in section of MAXTube. Secure the MAXTube Endcap with 4 screws as shown.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXHub - 1/2in Hex - Aluminum

Insert a MAXHub into the first MAXSpline bore from the right and another into the third MAXSpline bore from the left.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXHub - Structural

Insert 2 structural MAXHubs on the opposite side of the 1/2in Hex MAXHub. When this step is done, the left face will have two 1/2in Hex MAXHubs showing and the right face will have Structural MAXHubs.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1in Bracket - 180deg

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Secure a 180deg bracket next to the MAXHub as shown. The bracket should overlap with the structural MAXHub, and the screws will be inserted so that the nuts are on the same side as the bracket.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

Use screws to attach the MAXTube to the assembly from Step 20 as shown. Use 1/2in screws in the Structural MAXHubs and 1-1/2in through the MAXTube.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 13in

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

Attach the 13in Hex Shaft in the lowest position possible to the 180deg brackets above the conveyor. There will be two open holes in the top of each bracket.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/4in

Attach a MAXTube Endcap to the right side of the conveyor assembly between the 5th and 6th MAXSpline bores using the screws.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1in Bracket - External 3-4-5 - Steep

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

  • 4 - #10 Spacer, 0.125in Long

Attach one External 3-4-5 - Steep Bracket to either side of the MAXTube Endcap that was just installed. Ensure that the bracket angles up towards the same side as the 180deg brackets. Place a spacer between the Endcap and the bracket before securing with screws.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/8in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 6.5in

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Connect the 6.5in section of 1x1 MAXTube to the External 3-4-5 - Steep brackets using screws and lock nuts. The last hole in the MAXTube should align with the hole before the corner of the bracket.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1in Bracket - Internal 3-4-5 - Steep

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Connect 2 Internal 3-4-5 - Steep brackets to the end of the 1x1 MAXTube. Use the 1st and 3rd holes from the edge to connect to the bracket's leg.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/8in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 6in

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach a 6in section of 1x1 MAXTube to the other leg of the Internal 3-4-5 - Steep bracket using screws and lock nuts. The end of the MAXTube should be nearly flush with the top of the bracket as shown.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 1x1 - 1/8in Wall

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

Insert a 1x1 MAXTube Endcap into the top of the tube that was just installed. Secure with two screws.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1in Bracket - T

  • 1 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

Using the 1x1 MAXTube Endcap as an anchor, attach a T bracket to the assembly as shown.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1in Bracket - 180deg

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Mount two 180deg brackets, opposite each other, to the lower edge of the MAXTube as shown with screws and lock nuts.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/4in

Attach a MAXTube Endcap to the left side of the conveyor assembly between the 5th and 6th MAXSpline bores using screws.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1in Bracket - External 3-4-5 - Steep

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

  • 4 - #10 Spacer, 0.125in Long

Attach one External 3-4-5 - Steep Bracket to either side of the MAXTube Endcap that was just installed. Ensure that the bracket angles up towards the same side as the 180deg brackets. Place a spacer between the Endcap and the bracket before securing with screws.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/8in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 6.5in

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Connect the 6.5in section of 1x1 MAXTube to the External 3-4-5 - Steep brackets using screws and lock nuts. The last hole in the MAXTube should align with the hole before the corner of the bracket.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1in Bracket - Internal 3-4-5 - Steep

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Connect 2 Internal 3-4-5 - Steep brackets to the end of the 1x1 MAXTube. Use the 1st and 3rd holes from the edge to connect to the bracket's leg.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/8in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 6in

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach a 6in section of 1x1 MAXTube to the other leg of the Internal 3-4-5 - Steep bracket using screws and lock nuts. The end of the MAXTube should be nearly flush with the top of the bracket as shown.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 1x1 - 1/8in Wall

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

Insert a 1x1 MAXTube Endcap into the top of the tube that was just installed. Secure with two screws.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1in Bracket - T

  • 1 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1/2in

Using the 1x1 MAXTube Endcap as an anchor, attach a T bracket to the assembly as shown.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1in Bracket - 180deg

Dock the NEO Vortex to the SPARK Flex. Then mount the motor to the top of the MAXTube.

  1. Get:

  • 5 - Flanged Bearing for 1/2in Rounded Hex

Insert 5 bearings into the MAXTube as follows:

  • 1 - Opposite the motor at the top of the MAXtube

  • 2 - On either side of the 3rd MAXSpline Bore from the bottom of the MAXTube

  • 2- On either side of the MAXSpline Bore closest to the bottom of the MAXTube.

  1. Get:

  • 3 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 17.875

  • 3 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 0.5in

Pass each hex shaft through the bearings and secure with shaft end screws on the side opposite the motor.

  1. Get:

  • 14 - 2in Compliant Wheel - 1/2in Hex Bore - Soft

  • 4 - RT25 Pulley - 1/2in Hex - 16T - Single

  • 1 - RT25 Belt - 1/2in Width - 64 Tooth

  • 1 - RT25 Belt - 1/2in Width - 48 Tooth

On the top hex shaft, add one 16T pulley with the 64T belt.

Then, slide two Compliant wheels onto the middle hex shaft. After the 2nd compliant wheel, put one 16T pulley on the middle hex shaft, and thread the belt around it. Add 5 more compliant wheels to this shaft and finish the row with one 16T Pulley with 48T belt. For the bottom shaft, slide on all 7 compliant and then one 16T pulley. Thread the belt from the middle pulley around this one as well. Adjust the compliant wheels as needed so that they are equally spaced, similar to the image. Note: If you have trouble with the compliant wheels sliding while using the intake, you can add spacers or tape to help keep them in place.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall - MAX Pattern Cut to 13in

  • 5 - Flanged Bearing for 1/2in Rounded

Place 5 bearings into the MAXTube as shown. The placement will be the same as the previous side's.

  1. Get:

  • 3 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 0.5in

Add the 2nd piece of MAXTube with bearings to the compliant wheel assembly. Secure the hex shafts with shaft end screws.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1/2in x 1/2in MAXTube Cut to 7.5

  • 1 - 1in Bracket - 120deg

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/4in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach a 120deg bracket to the end of a 1/2 x 1/2 MAXTube section on the right side using two screws and nuts as shown. The corner hole of the bracket will align with the hole closest to the top of the MAXTube. Set aside.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1/2in x 1/2in MAXTube Cut to 7.5

  • 1 - 1in Bracket - 120deg

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/4in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach a 120deg bracket to the end of a 1/2 x 1/2 MAXTube section on the left side using two screws and nuts as shown. The corner hole of the bracket will align with the hole closest to the top of the MAXTube. Note: this piece should be a mirror of the assembly from Step 7. Set aside.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/4in

  • 1 - #10 Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Add the MAXTube and bracket assembly from Step 7 to the intake as shown. Use one screw, a spacer between the bracket and the 2x1 MAXTube, and a locknut.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/4in

  • 1 - #10 Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Add the MAXTube and bracket assembly from Step 8 to the intake as shown. Use one screw, a spacer between the bracket and the 2x1 MAXTube, and a locknut.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 18-7/16

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/4in

Add the 1/2in rounded hex shaft to the intake between the ends of the 1/2 x 1/2 that were just added. Secure with 2 screws.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - MAXTube - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall - MAX Pattern - 1-Pos (3in)

  • 2 - MAXTube Endcap - 2x1 - 1/8in Wall

  • 16 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

Insert a MAXTube Endcap into the MAX Pattern 1-Pos MAXTube. Secure the endcap from every available hole using 8 screws. Make two of these.

  1. Get:

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/2in

Connect one small MAXTube assembly to the top of each 2x1 MAXTube of the intake. Use two screws centered around the top 1/2in hex shaft to secure with the MAXTube endcap. Set aside.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 16.5in

  • 3 - MAXTube Internal Support - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall

Insert 3 1x1 MAXTube Internal supports into a new section of 1x1 MAXTube.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1in Bracket - 90deg

  • 3 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 3 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Place a 90deg bracket on both sides of the 1 x 1 MAXTube and secure with 3 screws and nuts making sure that the screws pass through the MAXTube internal supports.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 2in

  • 2 - MAXTube Internal Support - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall

Insert 2 1x1 MAXTube Internal supports into a new section of 1x1 MAXTube.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 1 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach the short section of MAXTube to the 90deg brackets using one screw and locknut. Ensure that the screw passes through the MAXTube Internal Support.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube Internal Support - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall

Add one MAXTube Internal Support to the long section of 1 x 1 MAXTube as shown.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 0.5in

  • 1 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 1.25in

  • 1 - 1/2in Hex Shaft Spacer - 1/16in

  • 1 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 1.25in

  • 2 - Flanged Bearing for 1/2in Rounded Hex

Connect the assembly from Step 18 to the Intake (from Step 13). Place a bearing into both sides of the MAXSpline bore as shown. Slide the 1/2in hex through the bearings with enough to slide a 1/16in spacer onto the right side as shown. Secure the assembly to the 1/2in hex shaft with a 1.25in shaft end screw through the 1in MAXTube and a 0.5in shaft end screw into the opposite side.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 16.5in

  • 3 - MAXTube Internal Support - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall

Insert 3 1x1 MAXTube Internal supports into a new section of 1x1 MAXTube.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - 1in Bracket - 90deg

  • 3 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 3 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Place a 90deg bracket on both sides of the 1 x 1 MAXTube and secure with 3 screws and nuts making sure that the screws pass through the MAXTube internal supports.

Insert 2 1x1 MAXTube Internal supports into a new section of 1x1 MAXTube.

Add one MAXTube Internal Support to the long section of 1 x 1 MAXTube as shown.

Secure the assembly to the 1/2in hex shaft with a 1.25in shaft end screw through the 1in MAXTube and a 0.5in shaft end screw into the opposite side.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall - Grid Cut to 18in

  • 1 - Lap Joint Bracket - 1in

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 4 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Place a lap joint bracket onto the 1 x 1 MAXTube and secure with 4 screws and nuts.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 2in

Insert 3 1x1 MAXTube Internal supports into a new section of 1x1 MAXTube.

Add one MAXTube Internal Support to the long section of 1 x 1 MAXTube as shown.

Slide the Hex Shaft through the MAXSpline Endcaps and the MAXSpline Shaft, leaving approximately 1.875in on the left side and 1.125in on the right.

Working from the inside out, add one 1/8in spacer, 1/4in spacer, and 1/2in spacer to each side of the flap wheel assembly. Set this aside.

  • 7 - Compliant Wheel - 4in - MAXSpline - Medium

  • 6 - MAXSpline Spacer - 1/2in

Center 7 Compliant Wheels, each separated by one spacer, on the MAXSpline shaft. Note: Marking the center of the MAXSpline shaft can make centering the wheels easier.

  1. Get:

Secure the components with one MAXSpline Shaft Collar on each end of the shaft.

  1. Get:

Insert one MAXSpline Shaft Endcap into each end of the MAXSpline Shaft. Set this aside.

  1. Get:

Secure the hex shaft in the MAXPlanetary Socket output with a screw.

Use the MAXPlanetary Output from Step 15 to assemble a 4:1 MAXPlanetary Gearbox following the MAXPlanetary Gearbox Assembly Instructions.

  • 1 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 4.9375in and tapped with 10-32 threads

  • 1 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 0.5in

Dock the NEO Vortex to the SPARK Flex. Then install the hex shaft with a shaft end screw.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/4in

Mount the Vortex and Flex to the other end of the MAXTube from Step 17 so that the hex shaft passes through the 2nd MAXSpline Bore from the top.

Use two screws to secure.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Flanged Bearing for 1/2in Rounded Hex

Add a bearing to the MAXSpline Bore as shown to support the hex shaft.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - 1/2in Hex Shaft Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - 1/2in Hex Shaft Spacer - 1/8in

  • 1 - 46T - 1/2in Hex - 20DP Gear

  • 1 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 0.5in

Add both spacers and one 46T gear to the hex shaft. Then retain these components with a shaft end screw.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Flanged Bearing for 1/2in Rounded Hex

Add a bearing to the MAXSpline Bore as shown to support the hex shaft.

  1. Get:

  • Roller with Compliant Wheels

Add the compliant wheel assembly from Step 14 to the hex shaft.

  • 1 - Flanged Bearing for 1/2in Rounded Hex

Place a bearing two MAXSplines up from the MAXPlanetary Gearbox on the same face of the MAXTube as the motors.

  1. Get:

  • Roller with Flap Wheels

Add the flap wheel assembly from Step 11 to the bearing. Retain the shaft with a shaft end screw.

  1. Get:

Add a 1/2in Hex MAXHub to the MAXSpline bore directly below the upper motor output.

  1. Get:

  • Roller with Grip Wheels

  • 1 - MAXHub - Structural

Add a Structural MAXHub to the opposite side of the 1/2in Hex one that was just installed. Then, mount the flywheel assembly from Step 6 to the MAXTube through the MAXHubs. Take care to align the gear teeth during this step. Secure the 1/2in Hex shaft to the MAXTube with a screw through the Structural MAXHub once the gears have properly meshed.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - NEO Vortex Brusless Motor

Add a bearing and then three spacers to the compliant wheel roller

Add a Structural MAXHub to the opposite side of the 1/2in Hex one that was installed in Step 32. Then, mount the flywheel assembly to the MAXTube through the MAXHubs. Take care to align the gear teeth during this step. Secure the 1/2in Hex shaft to the MAXTube with a screw through the Structural MAXHub once the gears have properly meshed. At this time, be mindful of the other rollers and align any shafts/bearings with their respective MAXSpline bores.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - Single RT25 Plastic Pulley - MAXSpline - 24 Tooth with MAX Hubs

  • 2 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 0.5in

  • 1 - RT25 Belt - 1/2in Width - 72 Tooth

On the outside of the Launcher's MAXTube frame, place two pulleys and a belt so that the flap wheel roller and compliant wheel roller are connected. Check that the belt is seated properly in the teeth of the pulley and then secure with two shaft end screws.

  1. Get:

With the Launcher's frame oriented with the MAXPlanetary Gearbox on the left side, attach the aluminum angle to the 1in face of the left MAXTube. Use 3 screws and nuts to secure the piece as shown.

With the Launcher's frame in the same position as Step 37, attach the aluminum angle to the 1in face of the right MAXTube. Use 3 screws and nuts to secure the piece as shown.

Add one 1x1 MAXTube Endcap to each end of the aluminum angle, using one screw to secure each piece as shown.

Use one screw to mount a 90deg bracket to both ends of the aluminum angle. Use the third hole in from the end of each leg to secure the piece to the MAXTube endcap. Set this assembly aside.

Add one endcap to the section of MAXTube.

Connect the 90deg bracket and tube sections from Steps 43/45 to the new section of MAXTube using 4 screws and nuts as shown.

Insert one MAXTube endcap into either end of the top section of 1x1 MAXTube.

Rotate the structure so that the 1/2 x 1/2 MAXTube and upper 90deg brackets are facing "up" or "out" towards you. Then, add 90deg brackets on both the front and the back of the right side MAXTube so that the angle is pointing out to the right. The lowest hole in the bracket should line up with the 9th hole from the bottom of the 1x1 MAXTube. Note: Place the screws so that the nuts are on the front face of the structure in this orientation, as shown in the first image.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall - Grid Pattern Cut to 6in

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Connect the MAXTube to the 90deg bracket using two screws and nuts as shown. The nuts should be on the same side of the structure as the other ones in this bracket.

Be sure to equally space the screws and include a spacer between the polycarbonate sheet and angle aluminum.

Use the 6th row down from the angle aluminum last added to attach the polycarbonate sheet to the structure from Step 63 using two screws.

Create the launcher hood's curve by attaching the MAXTube Endcaps to the MAXTube uprights in the main structure. Use the 5th hole down from the bracket for this step. Note: This step may require a significant amount of force to hold the polycarbonate sheet in place. We recommend that one person presses on the polycarb while another places the screws.

  1. Get:

Attach the MAXTube Endcaps from the lower support to the uprights in the main structure. Use the 3rd complete hole up from the bracket for this step.

  1. Get:

  • 4 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock Nut

Attach the other half of the Launcher's frame, from Step 41, to the upper side aluminum angle with one screw and polycarbonate side panels using 3 screws as shown. Use locknuts to secure the connection.

Attach the other side of the Launcher's frame to the upper side aluminum angle with one screw and polycarbonate side panels using 3 screws as shown. Use locknuts to secure the connection.

Use two screws and lock nuts to connect the lower piece of angle aluminum to the launcher. Check that the bolt heads are on the inside of the mechanism and the nuts are on the same side as the motors.

Attach the MAXTube from the previous step and a section of aluminum angle to the polycarbonate sheet with two screws and locknuts.

Attach the assembly from the previous step to the MAXTube with the MAX Pattern from Step 3 with two screws and locknuts.

Attach the MAX Pattern MAXTube to the bracket from the previous step with two screws and locknuts. Set aside.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - MAXTube Endcap - 1x1 - 1/16in Wall

Insert the mounting points for the Intake into the Conveyor Assembly as follows:

  • In the bearings in the bore 4th from the end as shown, insert a 1/2in hex shaft. Slide a 1/4in spacer onto the right side and a shaft end screw. On the opposite side slide on a 1/8in spacer.

  • In the bearings in the bore 2nd from the end as shown, insert a 1/2in hex shaft. Slide a 1/4in spacer and a 1/16in spacer onto the right side and a shaft end screw. On the opposite side slide on a 1/16in spacer.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - #10 Shaft End Screw V2 - 0.5in

  • 2 - 1/2in Rounded Hex Shaft Cut to 1.5in tapped

  • 1 - 1/2in Hex Shaft Spacer - 1/4in

  • 1 - 1/2in Hex Shaft Spacer - 1/8in

  • 2 - 1/2in Hex Shaft Spacer - 1/16in

Slide the Intake Assembly onto the Conveyor Assembly. Secure it to the mounting points from the previous steps with 4 shaft end screws.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Drivetrain Assembly

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock

Slide the Conveyor and Intake Assembly onto the drivetrain. Secure it with two screws and locknuts.

  1. Get:

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/2in

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock

Secure the Conveyor and Intake Assembly onto the drivetrain with two screws and locknuts.

  1. Get:

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/4in

Secure the Conveyor and Intake Assembly onto the drivetrain with four screws into the MAXTube end caps.

  1. Get:

  • 4 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 1-1/4in

Secure the Conveyor and Intake Assembly onto the drivetrain with four screws into the MAXTube end caps.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - Launcher Assembly

Place the Launcher Assembly onto the Drivetrain. Align the launcher so the brackets rest as shown. The polycarbonate should rest onto the 1/2in hex at the end of the conveyor. If the polycarbonate does not reach the 1/2in hex or is touching the belts you will need to adjust the polycarbonate up or down.

Secure the polycarbonate to the 1/2in hex with zip ties.

  1. Get:

  • 3 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/2in

  • 3 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock

Attach the launcher to the drivetrain with three screws and locknuts as shown.

Please Note: You may need to remove the belly polycarbonate to access two of these nuts. If you do, move onto the next step before reattaching it.

  1. Get:

  • 3 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/2in

  • 3 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock

Attach the launcher to the drivetrain with three screws and locknuts as shown. Please Note: If you removed the belly polycarbonate in the last step, reattach it after this step.

  1. Get:

  • 3 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 2-1/2in

  • 3 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock

Attach the launcher to the drivetrain with three screws and locknuts as shown. Please Note: One #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock is not visualized in this image but should be used.

Loop the 56 tooth belt that has been hanging around the the pulley of the Conveyor Motor Assembly. Attach it to the drivetrain with two screws into the endcaps.

  • 3 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock

Attach the right wall to the T bracket on the conveyor assembly with three screws and locknuts.

  1. Get:

  • 1 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock

  • 2 - Button Head Hex Drive Screw #10-32 x 3/8in

Attach the right wall to the lower 90 deg bracket on the launcher bracket assembly with a screw and locknut as well as two 3/8in screws into the MAXTube endcap.

Attach the right wall to the downward facing of the two upper 90 deg brackets on the launcher bracket assembly with a screw and locknut as well as two 3/8in screws into the MAXTube endcaps.

  • 2 - #10-32 Low Profile Nylon Lock

Attach the right wall to the horizontal facing of the two upper 90 deg brackets on the launcher bracket assembly with two screws and locknuts as well as a 3/8in screw into the MAXTube endcap.

Secure the polycarbonate to the right wall with two 3/8in screws into the MAXTube endcaps.

Attach the right wall to the horizontal facing 90 deg bracket on the rear of the launcher assembly with two screws and locknuts as well as a screw through the MAXTube endcap.

Attach the left wall to the T bracket on the conveyor assembly with three screws and locknuts.

Zip tie the two polycarbonate sheets to the walls and the drivetrain to act as a base to the hopper and a funnel to the conveyor.

Zip tie the two polycarbonate sheets to the walls and the launcher to act as a walls to the hopper and a funnel to the conveyor.

  1. Get:

Zip tie the polycarbonate sheet to the intake to act as a wall to the hopper.
