# Kraken Input Kit Assembly Guide

## Drive Spur Gears

The additional spur gears (21T(22) and 20T(22)), alongside the base spur gear (REV-21-3005-P11) included in the MAXSwerve Module Kit, allow for three distinct wheel speed options.

When using a Kraken X60 with the MAXSwerve, the spur gear will be replaced to adjust speeds instead of the pinion.&#x20;

During assembly, the spur gear of choice will be added during step 3 of the [Steering Gear Subassembly Part 2](https://docs.revrobotics.com/ion-build/build-guides/maxswerve-module-assembly#steering-gear-subassembly-part-2)

## Filing the MAXSwerve Top Plate

In order to utilize the Kraken X60 motor you will need to file approximately **1mm** of material off the MAXSwerve Top Plate (to make clearance for the bump out present in the motor) at the corners of the motor mounting pocket.

Which corner must be filed will depend on the chosen orientation of the motor.&#x20;

## Top Plate Subassembly with a Kraken

Add the Kraken Spacer to the top of the motor before adding the top plate. This will help to accommodate differences in shaft length between the Kraken and other MAXSwerve compatible motors.&#x20;

### Pinion Spacer

The Pinion Spacer slides over the shaft to provide proper spacing and compatibility with the Encoder Bridge (REV-21-3005-P26).&#x20;

This step is the same as when using a NEO motor to assemble the[ Top Plate ](https://docs.revrobotics.com/ion-build/build-guides/maxswerve-module-assembly#top-plate-subassembly)(Step 4).&#x20;

### Drive Motor Pinion

During [Step 6 of the assembly](https://docs.revrobotics.com/ion-build/build-guides/maxswerve-module-assembly#top-plate-subassembly), the default drive motor pinion in the kit will be replaced with the Drive Motor Pinion - 15T Spline Bore - 14T. The pinion boss should be facing away from the motor.&#x20;
